Tasha Robinson Polygon Nobody's going to be impressed with the technical virtuosity on display in the cheesy 1988 horror movie Waxwork... It's all extremely messy, but executed with passion and more subversive glee than most 1980s horror Oct 20, 2021 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …Waxwork is a cheeky film that’s weathered well in terms of recasting the way popular characters are used within a meta-narrative; it’s certainly well ahead of it’s time in the 80’s… Rated: 3/5 Sep 14, 2022 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Hickox never pretends his film is more than it is, sticking to what makes it good: the near surreal atmosphere, great monsters, a dash or five of blood. Glafira Regina O Imagine this: The most stereotypical American couple—a jock and a young girl. The most typical horror movie soundtrack straight out of the '80s. The most overused horror movie plotlines from the same era. The most clichéd hero who feels pulled straight from a bargain-bin horror flick. A protagonist who's supposed to be funny but instead delivers endless monologues that make you wish for silence. Now blend it all together, and you've got my review of this film. I couldn't even finish it—quit before the credits rolled. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Audience Member it was a good and interesting concept, but portrayed badly. great ending, i love the start and ends the same trope. sarah's character is kind of unsettling. probably wouldnt watch again. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Johnathon W Fun horror film that plays around with different genres, along with a game cast. Zach Galligan is appealing as the lead while the great David Warner makes a fantastic villain as usual. Behind the camera, director Anthony Hickox crafts a fun horror film that weaves in multiple genres, from mummies to vampires, in a fun way. It gets a little bonkers at the end but never stops being fun. Overall, a fun horror for those looking for something a little different. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/13/23 Full Review randumb2020 This is just campy '80s horror comedy fun. It has a great cast. My favorite is Deborah Foreman. I love every movie she ever made no matter how silly and campy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Michael S Silly and amateurish. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/07/23 Full Review Ygor M A classic cheesy horror movie which is good by being exactly what it intends to be: an utter nostalgic cliché and comedically dubious compendium of references from the most prominent movies of the genre, filled with goofy-like gore and poorly executed visual and sound effects typical from the 80s. Totally a must watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
