Matt Pais Metromix.com A film like this can't just preach to the frustrated, devoted choir; it's gotta cheer, yell and scream with them, losing its voice while still speaking the truth. Rated: 2/5 Jul 6, 2010 Full Review Philip Martin Arkansas Democrat-Gazette more a souvenir for long-suffering (some would say masochistic) Chicago Cubs baseball fans... Audience Member Some interesting history of the Cubs! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I nearly came to tears several times watching this documentary about the city of Chicago and it's love for the Cubs... which is fitting since the Cubs have certainly brought me to tears many times in the last 39 years. Some parts that focus on the 2008 team are a little too Sportscenter-ish, but the history portions on the team and the city itself are great. Honestly, they should bundle this film with Ken Burns' PBS doc "Baseball," which was a great film that foolishly chose to focus crybabies in Boston at the end rather than real fans like they have in Chicago. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Its true. To be a fan of the Cubs is to be a fan of epic losers. A fun documentary about a ball club that hasn't won anything in 100 years, and yet their fan base grows bigger and bigger each season. These guys are what the "Bad News Bears" wannabe when they get older! It was fun to hear the stories of old about when the team was regarded as the best in the world but it did get a bit repetitive hearing random celebs talk about how majestic and wonderful it was to be at a Cubs game over and over again. Fan of sports? Do check! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
