Dan Gentile San Francisco Chronicle Although every testimonial is emotional, the most moving may be the interviews that take place in Uganda. Jun 4, 2021 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian To admit a bias, I love dogs. Having said that, We Don't Deserve Dogs is a beautiful documentary... Rated: 4/5 Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Cary Darling Houston Chronicle The documentary from Matthew Salleh and Rose Tucker goes to four continents to explore the human-dog relationship. Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Allen Adams The Maine Edge [A] heartfelt paean to the connection mankind shares with its four-legged friends. To my mind, the titular assertion is an accurate one - we DON'T deserve dogs...if you're of a similar mindset, then you are absolutely the target audience for this film. Rated: 4/5 Apr 10, 2021 Full Review Rob Thomas Capital Times (Madison, WI) it underscores [its] thesis that the bond between humans and dogs transcends borders. Mar 10, 2021 Full Review Vinnie Mancuso Collider Don't Deserve Dogs doesn't ever discover what we did to receive a dog's unconditional love, but it does make you believe in its ability to break down barriers. marc b If you have a dog and/or just love dogs you can't not like this movie. That being said, it is very slow, nothing particularly new...except for the unique lifestyles and experiences (some are horrific) of some owners, and the music accompaniment is ponderous as it slavishly milks each moment for a heart tug that isn't necessarily there. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member What a mess of a documentary! It shows like a film school project that got a grade of “C.” The minor-key repetitive music drones through the entire film. The filmmakers never see fit to say where they’re filming (the vast majority of which are in non-English speaking countries), the subtitles are tiny, hard to read and removed too quickly, and for inexplicable and bizarre reasons, in a Vietnamese sequence (deduced from seeing a sign that reads “Vietnam”), this film whose thesis is how humans do not deserve dogs shows Vietnamese people preparing and eating a dog that we have previously seen briefly huddling fearfully in a market basket! It is sickening to behold and cannot be unseen. Avoid this trash if you truly love dogs. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/21 Full Review Read all reviews
