See more 05/16/2021 This drama film tells the story of a pope who as soon as he is elected realizes that he is not suitable for his office. The Italian director Nanni Moretti tells this story in an ironic but always simple and sensitive way. Michel Piccoli manages to get completely into the character and to give an excellent acting performance. The film is almost a prophecy of the subsequent renunciation of the papal throne by Benedict XVI. A paper thin idea for a story which meanders around and becomes a nonsense at points. Massively underwhelming.
