Critics Consensus

Instead of being light and charming, this romantic comedy is heavy-handed and contrived in its execution. Also, it's too unoriginal.

Anne Cohen Refinery29 From the very first scene, in which she comforts a distraught father by handing him a Valium from her trusty catch-all kit all while juggling three or four other minor crises, Lopez fills the screen. Jenna G. There are several things wrong with this movie, none of them are Justin Chambers. The biggest one is the absolute hypocrisy from Lopez’s character. Your last serious relationship ended because you caught him cheating RIGHT before the wedding, and you don’t immediately draw back once you find out your dance partner is engaged??? Nope. Lost the sympathy I might’ve been able to stir up. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/22/25 Full Review BRizz 2 The Wedding Planner – A Jennifer Lopez Classic The Wedding Planner, starring Jennifer Lopez, is a movie I genuinely enjoy. I know some people love to criticize her acting, but I’ll be honest—Jennifer Lopez is one of the greatest actresses of all time in my book, and I don’t care what anyone says. The film is directed with a clear sense of purpose, following the story of her character and the developing love story in a charming and engaging way. Sure, there are some corny moments, and at times it might lean a little too far into the cheesiness—but it’s not a bad thing. It’s not perfect, but it’s far from a movie I wouldn’t recommend. If you’re looking for a feel-good love story with a touch of comedy, this is a fun film to sit down and enjoy. J.Lo really owns the role and delivers the heart and humor that makes this film so rewatchable. So yes—definitely check it out. It’s a classic rom-com that reminds you why Jennifer Lopez is a true star. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/19/25 Full Review Ed R The very definition of cheesy romantic comedy. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/25 Full Review purrfectly w Just a good time, easy watch on a lazy weekend. McConaughey and/or Lopez fans that love an easy, good time vibe movie would love this, like I did. The chemistry between them is perfect and the story is well told with everything we would want in a rom-com weekend movie. Good, easy fun, with lots of laughs and romance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/25 Full Review Ava V Horrible movie, please don't waste your time watching this Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/25 Full Review Mitchell S It may have a few risque jokes in it. But it's a cute story with a good message. Jennifer and Matthew do a glorious job in their roles. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
