Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) Reginald LeBorg keeps the movie pretty effective on the atmosphere front, though the opening scenes may be the most effective of all. Rated: 4/5 Oct 12, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Enjoyable entry in the "Inner Sanctum" film series. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Fritz Leiber's novel Conjure Wife (published in 1943 in Unknown Worlds magazine) is a true classic of horror fiction that has, as yet, never resulted in a faithful film version, despite having been adapted three times: this one,Burn, Witch, Burn (a U.S. retitling of Night of the Eagle and unrelated to to the A. Merritt novel,Burn, Witch, Burn, which was filmed in 1936 as The Devil Doll) in 1962 and Witches' Brew(1980). Burn, Witch, Burn is highly regarded in some quarters, but it's still far from the book. (That last named is at best a comedic sort of version.) This first one, while removing the outright horror elements, does preserve (and embellish) the basics. This is still about witchcraft in the American household. The book puts it that most, maybe all, women use witchcraft to help and protect their husbands. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review bill t Batshit crazy movie about a man who marries a woman raised by jungle natives (!!), The woman still believes a lot of the jungle magic, but the guy thinks it's all jungle oogah-boogah. Some other people though, take advantage of this info and try to use it against them, like framing them for murder. A movie that just gets crazier and crazier as it goes along, this is a fun movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyable, atmospheric voodoo thriller with Lon Chaney Jr, Anne Gwynne and Evelyn Ankers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Engaging little thriller--A Woman Scorned!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member one of the better inner sanctum films with a very similar storyline to "night of the eagle". full of fear and shadows with great b & w photography and the lovely evelyn ankers.seems to me when you see "gowns by vera west" (who died far too young) in the credits, you're in for a good watch.
