The first half of the movie is solid and engaging, with an interesting subplot. Loping toward the climax, however, becomes increasingly tiring and unsatisfying. A half-hearted shape-shifting scene never actually results in a man-wolf. Characters fall into plot holes, and seem to forget previous motivations. And then the audience has to slog through the obligatory bad monster/good monster battle scene--complete with slo-mo body slinging and melodramatic primal screams that don't frighten. The final few minutes go a long way toward redeeming this flick, but don't quite earn it the 'werewolf' tag. More like 'Bad dog!' It’s kind of like when you always wonder what you would do if you were turned into a werewolf, then you watch this and go… ugh! I’m in real trouble here! Enjoyable and fun! Takes a while to build to the action but you aren’t bored while you are waiting because the story is good. But when the action does hit, grab your popcorn and get ready for the ride.
