Audience Member Considering when it was made this is a very good and fast moving screwball entry that outclasses most of the competition. Farrell and Blondell are great team and fire the wisecracks splendidly throughout. Best plot device is showing them initially as "gold diggers" pursuing rich men only to reveal they are process servers working for the always hopeless Hugh Herbert. There is one big drag however- the male lead Ross Alexander who sings in a very high voice and wears his one expression throughout without wavering. The punchy dialog from start to finish is great though and the early appearance of Lionel Stander in fine form is a real plus (particularly his hair). There are lots of movies from this time period fishing in the same waters but coming up empty and early. The energy manages to erase a lot of the rough edges too. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review Jithin K It seems the two actresses were really successful together at the time. But this one doesn't really work overall but still had some enjoyable aspects. The story feels like something that can be made today too though, with the right kind of interpretation it might work as a fine enough rom-com.
