      Critics Consensus

A spooky yarn told with taut economy, Werewolf by Night is a standout Marvel entry that proves Michael Giacchino as atmospheric and skilled a director as he is a composer.

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News The sets harken back to the vintage ‘30s, and the dark streak of humor and make this one irresistible viewing for the Halloween season. Rated: 3/4 Oct 13, 2022 Full Review Brian Lowry CNN.com Told with wry humor while tapping into unexplored quadrants of comics lore, it’s a bit too gory and scary for younger kids but a gift to fans that raises enticingly monster-ous possibilities. Oct 8, 2022 Full Review Dylan Roth Observer Werewolf By Night is a charming tribute not only to the pulpy horror comics on which it’s based but to the scary and silly classic cinema that a generation of film lovers grew up watching late at night on local television. Oct 7, 2022 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) A terrific looking film and great way to introduce kids to the tropes of horror movies Nov 6, 2023 Full Review Nicola Austin Flickering Myth Werewolf By Night is a howling good time and perfect for the Halloween season. Giacchino’s debut is certainly one of the strongest and most visually distinct of the recent MCU outings, laying the exciting groundwork for a new corner of the universe. Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight It’s nice to see Disney striking out in unique directions, especially when the big screen universe is struggling to regain its inventive stride. Charlie M This special looks so cool, and the ideas are awesome. It’s too short for me to say a lot more, but trust that it is worth the watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/31/24 Full Review Korra N One of the best anything to come from Marvel Studios in the past two Phases, Werewolf by Night shows just how brilliant a director and writer famed composer Michael Giacchino is, delivering a horror special that pays homage to the Universal Monsters of old while situating itself in the MCU seamlessly. Here's hoping we'll see more of the titular werewolf, Man-Thing, and Elsa Bloodstone crossing paths with Moon Knight and Ghost Rider. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/27/24 Full Review Raiodesol S Brilliant twist, great visual and nice action, especially for its rating. I’d say the characters are very weak and under developed, which they are, but that’s almost forgivable considering what this medium-length movie is trying to achieve. Hope we get more of this style in marvel movies and shows. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Brent T 88%????? This should be at 95% at least!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review Erin D This movie was so fun. I loved every single thing about it (except how short it was)! Riveting from the outset, funny, with interesting and endearing characters, and splashy (but mild) horror. Absolute perfection! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Kaylee C WHAT IS THIS ABSOLUTE SHITE I JUST WATCHED DO MY EYES DECIEVE ME OR WAS THAT THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MY GODDAMN TIME IVE EVER EXPERIENCED MY NEIGHBOR WILL BE HEARING ME SCREAM HOW ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE THIS MOVIE WAS THROUGH MY FLIPPING CONCRETE BEDROOM WALL.
