Emma A An entertaining and novel idea for a movie, with a great cast and script. Funny and poignant in equal measure, with the backdrop of the Scottish highlands enriching the whole film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Jonna M Amusing and heartwarming ❤️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/23 Full Review peter S Takes two actors who could not act to save their lives, Pike and Tennant, and add Bill Connolly. What do you get? Nothing good. Actually something pretty bad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Debs D Absolutely brilliant, the acting was superb and the story line was so funny. We have watched this twice over the last week, and will watch again with family members who have not yet seen it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 35 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review Emm This is one of the nicest movies I have seen in a long time. Ok, so it's not a big blockbuster, but the scenery is amazing, the cast is excellent, the acting brilliant and it has a feel good vibe despite being a little sad in places. The humour isn't laugh out loud belly aches but the script is full of really funny lines and scenes which had me tittering all through it. Despite having a few well known/big name adults the real stars are the children. They were amazing and certainly we need to keep an eye out for them in future! It's a shame that movies such as this don't usually make it to the Oscar's or even the BAFTAs. It's real, it's beautiful and it's heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I can't see anyone disliking this film…well that is anyone except the people who do not appreciate anything but big stars (who generally can't act) in bland cgi enhanced blockbusters. Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times The film slightly rushes the resolution, glossing over the tougher bits of conflict, but the message prevails. Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Leslie Felperin Hollywood Reporter What We Did On Our Holiday could be used as a textbook example of how to ruin a movie with a bad third act. Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times There are a few laughs; a couple of tears; and cinematography that bravely battles for continuity amid the capricious, dual-location British weather. Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Graham Young Birmingham Mail The most enjoyable British movie of the year! Rated: 4/5 Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Josh Slater-Williams Vague Visages A big part of why the plot fails is that these characters come across as utterly hollow strawmen for Hamilton and Jenkin’s manipulations, despite the use of semi-improvised flourishes to make them potentially seem more real. Nov 28, 2023 Full Review Gayatri Gauri Firstpost One thing is guaranteed after watching What We Did On Our Holiday: you may not be keen on brats, but you will be sold on the idea of a holiday in Scotland.
