SkyRo P "When I'm Ready" is a 2025 film that explores the unexpected love story of a couple who come together under dire circumstances. Set against the backdrop of an impending meteor strike threatening to obliterate Earth, they embark on a journey to connect and discover each other while pretending to be married, all the while deepening their bond. The direction is commendable, effectively unveiling the characters' personalities and hinting at their backgrounds without revealing everything. The film captures their struggles, which include various challenges and intense situations, adding layers to their relationship. However, the film's conclusion left me feeling unsatisfied. While it's not a terrible film, it doesn't quite reach greatness either. The ambiguous ending left me with too many unanswered questions: Does the world actually end? What happens when the meteor hits? Did anyone survive? While it's clear the meteor impacts Earth, the film doesn't clarify the aftermath or the fate of the characters. Instead, it feels like the ending is meant to leave viewers satisfied without providing closure. Because of this, I find it hard to see myself rewatching it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Tom O Really enjoyed, When I’m Ready, big fan of end of the world movies, this one had a fresh take on the genre, very affecting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Jamie A "When I'm Ready" is exactly the kind of movie that reminds us why we fall in love with cinema in the first place. Lauren Cohan and Dermot Mulroney deliver powerhouse performances in this beautifully crafted end-of-the-world romantic thriller that manages to be both intimate and epic in scope. At its heart, this is a story about Rose and Michael, two souls finding each other at the most impossible moment - as an asteroid hurtles toward Earth. What could have been just another doomsday film becomes something far more special through the magnetic chemistry between our leads. Cohan brings a raw vulnerability to Rose that makes you root for her from the very first scene, while Mulroney's Michael is layered with both strength and tenderness. The film excels at making us deeply invest in these characters' journey across America. Their road trip to visit Rose's grandmother becomes more than just a physical journey - it's a powerful exploration of what matters most when time is running out. The way their relationship unfolds feels authentic and earned, never forced or melodramatic. Don't let the "end of the world" premise fool you - this isn't your typical disaster movie. Instead, it's a deeply human story about finding meaning and connection in the face of inevitability. The performances are so genuine that you'll find yourself forgetting about the impending apocalypse and simply getting lost in these characters' lives. This is absolutely worth seeing in theaters. It's the kind of film that stays with you long after the credits roll, making you think about your own relationships and what you'd do if faced with similar circumstances. In a sea of formulaic blockbusters, "When I'm Ready" stands out as something special - a reminder that even in the darkest times, human connection can light the way forward. Go see it. You won't regret it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Audience Member Touching story and subtle yet beautiful performances Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Read all reviews
