Renata Adler New York Times But a good part of the movie permits Miss Day to play an actress something like herself, and this might be fresh and almost poignant. May 9, 2005 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Here is another movie about how Doris Day preserves her virtue. Frankly, I have lost interest in Doris Day's virtue. Doris Day without doubt has the most threatened virtue in history. Compared to her, Helen of Troy was a registered nurse. Rated: 2/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Steve Crum Video-Reviewmaster.com More a historic reference than a sustained comedy, but it does have Doris Day and great cast. Rare T I just can’t give a Doris Day movie a bad rating, and I will not falter even she told me to do so herself… Well, I might a bit if that anticipated hypothetical scenario were to come to fruition. Jokes aside, the jokes weren’t aside in this farcical picture with the vigorous characters and the late 60s extravaganza characterized by decent cityscape and a melodious jazzy score, alongside the portrayed profligacy. One who shows signs of displeasure after this movie is one who should be asked the same question the movie itself asks at the end: Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? The lights in question would be those of the theater, that is. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/24 Full Review Sheryl K I think this movie is very funny and hysterical in parts. It’s a typical Doris Day romp movie, and enjoyable. But then again, this is from my day. I love all of these types of movies. I say watch it if you get a chance. Doris Day being drunk is worth it, alone!
