Synopsis
Newlywed Buck (Jack Holt) is jailed for manslaughter. Wanting what's best for his wife, who is carrying his child, Buck reluctantly tries to divorce her. When she refuses, Buck sends her a phony letter, allegedly from the police, informing her that he has died. After his sentence ends, he starts a new life as a crook and gets involved in a high-profile case involving a mobster. Reporter Sandra (Jean Arthur), the daughter Buck never met, gets tangled in her father's case, and tragedy ensues.
