In 2002, cable news producer Kim Barker (Tina Fey) decides to shake up her routine by taking a daring new assignment in Kabul, Afghanistan. Dislodged from her comfortable American lifestyle, Barker finds herself in the middle of an out-of-control war zone. Luckily, she meets Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie), a fellow journalist who takes the shellshocked reporter under her wing. Surpreendentemente, o que pensei tratar se de uma sátira, na verdade, é uma biografia, se fidedigna, muitíssimo divertida, Tina Fey esta maravilhosa, Margot belíssima, um relato, muito corajoso e principalmente muito triste, a ausência de significa da guerra para os soldados, a misógina vida das mulheres afegãs, e a luta diária de ser uma correspondente mulher em local ínsubre, fotografia belíssima, roteiro cativante, película emocionante, dramática, sangrenta, divertida e revoltante...

Sometimes you just have to laugh, even in the middle of the dark stuff. Don’t know how I missed this until know. The last scene with the seriously injured marine, who came back and worked through it and explains his thoughts on the whole situation, is quite uplifting.

I enjoyed this. Having the comedy touch on a serious time and profession was nice. It drew light on how journalism felt during that time and gave respect to what was happening at the beginning of the war in the Middle East. It's cool to see Tina in a more severe part, but she also has the flexibility to bring her humor to it. - Also, it was cool to see Margo at the beginning of her career.

While I think this movie was well done, I couldn't finish it. I watched a little over half. Going in I was thinking this was a comedy or had satirical elements. It struck me as a realistic portrayal of life in a chaotic war zone. Nothing comical about that. The characters cope by engaging in heavy substance use and casual sex. It was like sharing their time in hell. I didn't care to accompany them to the end. Not my idea of an entertaining movie.
