Synopsis
In 17th-century Rome, Meo (Paolo Ferrari) is just a young boy living the typical life of a commoner until his impoverished parents, desperate for money, decide to sell him to "la voci bianche," or the castrati choir. By offering a bribe, Meo is able to avoid the castration and he lives comfortably among the other musicians until he falls for the beautiful wife of a wealthy nobleman. When he gets her pregnant, Meo's secret life is in danger of falling apart.
