Audience Member In the quest of the origins of a folklore song, the Bulgarian director Adela Peeva shows how much divided the Balkans are even in the 21st century, being unaware of the tremendous interwoven cultural heritage shared in those lands. Hatred comes upfront a few times during the conversation, accusations of the authenticity and the musical capacity of "the thieves' versions" of the song. In fact, the melody and the song itself might not even originate from the Balkans, but from the Middle East, most probably from the lands of modern Israel.
