What to know

      Critics Consensus

It's bolstered by a strong performance from Janet Jackson, but ultimately, Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? doesn't add anything new to Perry's melodramatic formula. Read critic reviews

Never boring, but for all the wrong reasons. (http://bit.ly/dKDJ7E)

I love Angela and Marcus couple. Angela is hilarious and never fails me to laugh. But this wasn't better than the first one. I felt slightly bored. But I gotta admit there were some scenes that will make you laugh out real loud. The story is pretty much the same only with some twists here and there. The ending was unexpected and sad.

Based on his past syrupy dramas with the plot structures of Little Golden Books, the prolific Tyler Perry can clearly do bad all by himself. Audience-approved but critically disapproved, Perry’s bottomless bottle of feel-good pills had worn down this reviewer’s will to live as opposed to built it up. Then came the aptly titled I Can Do Bad All By Myself, which actually stood testament to this filmmaker’s cinematic strengths as much as his weaknesses. Why Did I Get Married Too? actually does this flick one better, giving Perry his most affecting work yet. Oh, the movie is still cloying fluff at times, but – whereas most writer/directors wouldn’t fix what wasn’t broken - success has remarkably made Perry a better writer and filmmaker … mostly because he ditched a 7-foot granny-in-drag called Madea. In this PG-13-rated sequel, four close couples (Jackson, Perry, et al) gather in the Bahamas for an annual reunion where they find themselves confronting issues of fidelity and commitment. This reviewer remembers little of this movie’s predecessor, other than the fact that the set-up and camera shots were simple and the plot complications even simpler. Here, the set-up and shots are still simple, but the plot thickens thanks to a darker second act shift to the homefront where their vacation discussions boil over into some well-wrought drama. Perry’s storytelling skills and dialogue have improved, as has his – gasp – acting. In truth, the movie barely crests above average, but Perry’s cockeyed optimism is thankfully becoming an easier pill for this terminally cynical reviewer to swallow. Bottom line: Married…with improvement.

WOW! Another slam dunk for Mr. Tyler Perry. The first one was awesome,I think this one might have even been better,.Super gritty, raw and real.I have to also point out that Janet Jackson did so amazing in her role she should have been nominated for many awards, let alone an oscar,Hell it beats Sandra Bullock getting it for the Blind Side.(such a joke) Anyway GREAT film, see it soon with someone you love
