Jenn Adams Rue Morgue Magazine WICKED GAMES doesn’t exactly tread any new ground, but writer and director Teddy Grennan tells the story of a luxurious resort home invaded by masked killers in such an innovative way that the simple premise feels fresh and new. James M If I could give it zero stars I would... Same exact story as many other horror movies, reminds me a lot of You're Next. Looks like it was shot by someone with terrible seizures on a circa 2005 flip phone cuz the camera work is shaking the entire movie. I felt like I had motion sickness watching this movie. Would not recommend this movie to anyone. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review Jerry M This could have been a decent movie but to be honest, it was terrible. The name seems to pay homage to another much more successful movie, but we will get to that. As far as scripts go, they followed the formula of 3 acts and basically 2 plot points. That's about it. The acting was poor, and the special effects were even worse. Movies are supposed to show you a story, they don't tell you the story. Your job as the viewer is to gather bits and pieces about the character through hints, and their actions. Basically, the entire script was telegraphed start to finish with each character basically giving a synopsis of who they were, and their job in the film. If you want to see a much better version of this movie watch the 1997 Austrian release of "Funny Games" or the 2007 US remake of the same film. Or better yet watch the movie "The Strangers". I really wanted to like this movie. I personally love films where the victim turns the table on their attackers but near the end, I wasn't sure who I was cheering for. "Wicked Games" is neither original, nor even a decent attempt to pay homage to "Funny Games". I can't really suggest seeing this movie, I was extremely disappointed.
