Will (2024) is just another WWII movie. It’s not a bad movie. But it’s not doing anything to push the medium, and the areas where it attempts to are more exhausting than impactful.

This is a no frills, grim reality, portrayal of the events of war, not to romantic, idealised, heroic verison that many people want to see. I imagine during WW2 many people faced these conflicting emotions and choices based on the dynamic between conscience, values and the reality of survival. This is one of the most realistic and uncomfortable portayals I have seen and as such commendable. Well acted and convincing and the german officer Gregor is truely disturbing.
