Alec B Not much more than Historical fanfic from Milius. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Christopher S I am not sure what is more interesting-- knowing the real history that this film is based on before watching it, or learning the real history after watching it. The translation of reality into a movie reveals a lot about entertainment. Genders are changed, accomplishments are exaggerated or negated, nationalities are altered, and attention to detail is at times meticulous and other times ludicrously misrepresented. At any rate, this film tracks the story of an Arabian chief using guerilla tactics to maintain power and stave off the growing interest of overseas powers. Meanwhile, we follow Teddy Roosevelt in his pursuit of getting re-elected. The seemingly incongruous plots converge without the two men ever meeting, with a kidnapped American woman at the center of it all. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/23 Full Review Steve D I didn't find it at all convincing. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Karl N One of my all time favorites. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/23 Full Review Clive T Sean Connery - the only Scottish Berber in North Africa. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/22 Full Review ken k A classic Sean Connery film. One of his best. A 63% review by critic reviews just goes to show that the phrase pearls before swine still rings true. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Keith Phipps The Dissolve The Wind And The Lion is a neat mixture of romanticization and realpolitik [...] The film is memorable for its action scenes [...] but also for the reflective moments from which those action scenes are born. Rated: 3.5/5 May 19, 2014 Full Review Ruth Batchelor Los Angeles Free Press The script is an embarrassment the directing is stilted; the editor must have felt he was watching a Ping Pong match. Dec 4, 2019 Full Review Jacoba Atlas Los Angeles Free Press A fascinating movie which brilliantly synthesizes traditional romantic concerns with an admirable understanding of American political ideology. Dec 4, 2019 Full Review Bernard Drew Gannett News Service Milius is in love with everybody, there are no villains, and so there is no excitement. Oct 5, 2019 Full Review Antonio Lara El Pais (Spain) The result is indecisive and erratic. [Full Review in Spanish] Jul 18, 2019 Full Review Richard T. Jameson Parallax View Milius's incredible balancing act might have turned very rancid, yet miraculously his mixture of full-blown romanticism and a genial sense of its absurdity produces a deeply satisfying picture.
