Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse Despite the aforementioned issues, “Winds of September” is a very meaningful and entertaining film when it focuses on its main arc, which is where its true value lies. Rated: 7 Mar 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A male-orientated movie that depicts the fickleness of youth and friendship. It is hard to equally distribute the focus between 9 people so I can say it is quite lacking of depth. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Before < You Are the Apple of My Eye >, there was already one concrete, quality bitter-sweet coming-of-age film made in Taiwan. Although the spectrum of the Taiwan teenage movie has beome quite conformed, it has never disspointed me. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member With Winds Of September writer/director Tom Lin settles himself comfortably within the Taiwanese filmmaking tradition, which in essence means slow paced drama with gorgeous visuals. His approach towards the coming of age drama is also quite traditional, relying on old but reliable innocence lost ingredients. But given that Lin learned the tools of his trade as assistant director to Tsai Ming Liang, his work certainly shows that arthouse cinema is not the only way to go, pointing the way for other(admittedly more commercial) Taiwanese films, like this year's superb Monga. While Heiward Mak's Hong Kong chapter of the same story indeed packs an entirely different punch, Winds Of september impresses not so much with style as with emotional involvement, making us remember the misery and joy of our own teenage years. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member 劇終片尾曲選的恰到好處. bd Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
