Steve D It doesn't amount to much. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review joe m Engaging if rather subdued Bette Davis vehicles where she plays Susan Grieves, a New York City poet who's also a spinster and who also comes from moneyed, blue blood Yankee stock. She meets up with a war hero Slick Novak (James Davis). Well the two hit it off yet they both have dark secrets in their past. I won't spoil anything other than its the typical 1930's to 1950's psycho-drama where peoples longest held traumas are solved in one or two cathartic encounter. Not one of Davis' best films, yet worth catching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review ashley h Winter Meeting is a fantastic film. It is about a spinster poetess who lives in a Manhattan apartment where naval hero comes with her for a nightcap. Bette Davis and Jim Davis give excellent performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Bretaigne Windust did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Poor script, affected acting by Davis. The physical pairing does not work -- no chemistry is apparent. Davis claims they were prevented from getting into the main theme of the film -- so there's little here left to examine. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member good mid-career Bette Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Shaking my head over this one. What were they thinking when they made this? The script is a jumbled mess that doesn't ever go anywhere, and there are long stretches where nothing seems to be happening at all.
