      Critics Consensus

Witch Hunt's smart social commentary is undercut by its lack of original storytelling ideas, but this supernatural horror outing has just enough bite to recommend for teens.

Alex K That was an hour and a half of my life wholly wasted that I will never get back. I kept waiting for something or some plot to form, but nope, it never happens in this terrible film. I mean the premise is intriguing, but the writing is terrible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Avindu G Witch Hunt is a stab at all governments all throughout the world that explains exactly what's going on in the world. Symbolically it's very rich the first half of the story was extremely promising but late in the movie the plot was seemed to be stuck, the nature of smuggling arrangement was out the window like it never was. Therefore the story could have done better without such minor gaps. Visuals were amazing the dusty desert colour scheme and special effects were perfect. Great audio effects too. Sincere performances by the cast. Story was well written, touching and creative it definitely worth a watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/09/23 Full Review Danii1212Babe It had a good base line but like to many questions unanswered and the most pointless ending! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review Susan E Ok so this movie is not what I thought it was going to be. I really enjoyed this one. So it is not really scary if that is what you are looking for in a movie like this but more interesting and thought provoking. Love Elizabeth Mitchell in everything she does. I think this movie does just the job it was intended to do. Good movie - good plot. It is worth the watch!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review christopher r The movie took FOREVER!! to get to the point and then when it finally does it just got confusing then once it kicks up it gives you that wack ass ending that was just horrible!! Don't do that anymore. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/22 Full Review Audience Member A very fictitious alternate universe that is more than just a world where witches exist. Phuong Le Guardian All in all, this is a horror that's neither clever nor scary. Rated: 1/5 Jun 28, 2021 Full Review Abby Olcese RogerEbert.com There's an allegory here for patriarchal fear of female power, but that potential gets lost amid inconsistency and appropriation. Mar 20, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety More a supernatural drama than horror, or even a thriller, "Witch Hunt" is in the end primarily an effective cautionary fable about intolerance, sweetened with genre elements. Mar 18, 2021 Full Review Dolores Quintana Dolores Quintana WITCH HUNT is a parable of the crimes of the patriarchy in our society. It is about the injustice of xenophobia and misanthropy built into that structure. Dec 28, 2022 Full Review Zoë Rose Bryant Loud and Clear Reviews Witch Hunt skillfully balances sharp social commentary with sincerely shocking scares, making this a must-see for genre fans. Rated: 4/5 Sep 1, 2022 Full Review Christopher Cross Tilt Magazine An average film undermined by its inability to see and answer the questions it raises.
