Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader The Wolf at the Door succeeds within its own limitations in showing what Gauguin left behind. Rated: 2/4 May 9, 2022 Full Review Walter Goodman New York Times ... Mr. Sutherland gives his all, and that's a lot, a sensitively shadowed portrait of the artist as a middle-aged man. Audience Member Focusing on Gauguin's brief return from Tahiti to France, the movie cleverly provides a microcosm of Gauguin's talent, optimism, and morality. The film doesn't attempt to be exhaustive or even particularly objective, but it gives a believable glimpse of this artist. NOTE: Do not confuse this film with the more recent and vastly inferior GAUGUIN film starring KEIFER Sutherland. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
