Audience Member If it weren't for the acting... Wow! I haven't seen a film this bad in a REALLY, REALLY long time. :0/ The writing and cinematography KILLED this movie. If it weren't for the acting, in particular my recent obsession with Nicole Beharie, I would've stopped watching this movie about 30 minutes in. I actually fell asleep on it and had to restart it and finish it the next morning. Decent idea/concept, terrible execution in writing. Pam Grier's performance was very disappointing. If it weren't for the obvious ways they inserted New Orleans into the film (I recognized my alma mater (XU) instantly & other locations) I wouldn't have known the setting. The accents were so disturbingly terrible! The story & plot was very flat. You see the ending coming about 15 minutes in. A poorly written, decently directed, actor-carried film that probably never should have been made. The most exciting thing about this film aside from Nicole Beharie's performance was seeing my alma mater. -__- Sad. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it it kept me on my toes the whole time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Very enjoyable movie. And I am biased because Blair Underwood is one of my "TV Boos". But even with that bias this was still a really good movie. I'd recommend it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I seen it on cable it is good Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Melodramatic and contrived. It could have been so much better had it not been so dumb. A good cast is victim to a poor script. Aaron Hillis Village Voice Flatly shot and lit like a cable-TV movie, with a mismatched Franken-score of flowery flourishes and suspense-feigning propulsion, On the 7th Day sadly contains some fine, earnest acting... Apr 16, 2012 Full Review Wesley Morris Boston Globe This overplotted, underwritten, powerfully dumb soap-thriller has more professionalism than it deserves. Rated: 1/4 Apr 16, 2012 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This tawdry, faith-based kidnapping melodrama has a lot to atone for. Apr 16, 2012 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com As hard as the cast works in turning in solid performances, they fight a losing battle against the largely uninspired story. Rated: 2/4 Apr 22, 2012 Full Review Roger Moore Tribune News Service In bad melodrama, the instant a woman says "You are such a good man, David," to her husband, you know that he isn't. Rated: 1/4 Apr 19, 2012 Full Review Ann Lewinson Boston Phoenix Perhaps director Neema Barnette was hired to insulate the movie from charges of misogyny; in the end, On the 7th Day is not about women being "loosed" from the past, but tying those bonds a whole lot tighter.
