Philippe (Jérémie Renier) is a recent business school graduate whose first job is to audit a can factory that is about to be taken over by a large corporation. It soon dawns on him that the takeover will mean the loss of 80 jobs, a fact he bemoans as he works with and befriends the employees. His cold-hearted boss, Hugo (Laurent Lucas), wants him to decide which ones to fire, but his girlfriend, Eva (Cylia Malki), presses him to show compassion. Can he follow his conscience and keep his job?
