Aly L Steve Strange! Marc Warren is very good as Steve Strange ranging from mysterious and rude club owner, who can decide who is in and out, to mellowed down, drunken lover, who complains to George about the lack of grandmotherly care. * They are all good though… George, seeking his place under the sun in his special way, his caring father, trying to help his son. And both just want George to be happy. Rejecting and suffering Kirk. Marylin, Jon. * A lot of synth 80s music. No, not of Culture Club legacy mostly. But, hey! It’s based in the Blitz, so there is goes. * Or course it also sheds some light on the pop-music and show biz industry which are not always pretty. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/25 Full Review Audience Member If you are going to biopic about a musical icon, please get the rights to that person's music!!! Only one Culture Club song was played in this entire film and that is over the credits, that's just bad filmmaking. Douglas Booth does his best to capture the essence of Boy George but the script is weak and the story confusing, the filmmakers managed to make a very colourful superstar drab and unlikable. This could have been great, but instead it looks like a cheap TV movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I really love this movie, it was like being in the early 80s, the soundtrack was epic, love the characters, the script, I've watched this movie many times, I even learned the dialogues, this movie is so underrated Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Well made! didn't know this BBC movie existed til last week :) Douglas Booth is so natural as George, that I didn't see anything but his story being told. Can't wait to attend my first Culture Club concert soon... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I grew up when Culture Club was huge!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I stumbled across this on Time Warner On Demand and decided to check it out. Maybe I was just nostalgic to hear a little "Karma Chameleon" or "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." It soon became apparent that wasn't going to happen, at least to any extent. Instead, the movie focuses on Boy George's early years and gradual rise to stardom. It was mildly interesting, yet all too familiar. Parental disapproval? Check. Underdog ego-blows? Check. Doomed romances with cute drummers and assorted musicians? Check. Rock star debauchery and drug use? Check. Wish I'd just watched a few of their old music videos and missed this movie blind. Sad to see such an account of a fabulous gay character go straight to video. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
