The one-of-a-kind sketch special from A24 will feature famous comedy duo Berlant (A League of Their Own) and Early (Search Party, The Afterparty) as sitcom stars from the world-renowned television program "He's Gay, She's Half-Jewish." Despite their undeniable chemistry and monumental success, Kate and John's relationship suffers a very public falling out and eventual legal battle. But where are they now? Would it Kill You to Laugh is the chance for fans, and the world, to find out. Berlant and Early will also play an unpredictable variety of characters throughout. Television veteran and Emmy winner Meredith Vieira will appear as TV Newscaster in the special.

I love the singular, SILLY point of view of Kate Berlant + John Early. The world their comedy inhabits is simultaneously sharp and stupid in the best way. Their biting self-caricatures are delicious to watch and this special was a delight.

You know all the really cringe sitcoms that came and went. Apparently they decided it was a good idea to turn this into a feature film. This was just painful to watch. I guess the main problem is the main characters aren't funny, but they think they are, which makes it worse. I think there is an underlying issue with comedies today v. Pre-2010. Too much political correctness, so writers, producers, directors and actors hold back in fear of offending someone, anyone, everywhere. But if that is how you operate you are not going to be free to create since you are under self-imposing restraints. I have never heard of these actors and I think I know why. It was just a bunch of blabbering without any point to it.
