Francesca Rudkin New Zealand Herald Regardless of your age, you need to pay attention to the characters during the scene setting of this chilling Holocaust story. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Jim Schembri 3AW Seeing the moral terror of war from the perspective of children has rarely been done as well as it is in Marcus Rosenmuller's thoughtful, moving wartime drama. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 7, 2012 Full Review FILMINK (Australia) It never quite hits the emotional heights it sets out to, but remains a unique and moving take on an often-explored period of history. Sep 6, 2012 Full Review Andrew L. Urban Urban Cinefile Although there are a few stilted scenes and some clunky dialogue (as subtitled) the film stands up well as a wartime drama with familiar elements - but also with a slightly different approach Sep 1, 2012 Full Review Don Groves sbs.com.au Musically-gifted children are at the heart of moving Holocaust drama. Audience Member Refreshing story that keeps you captivated till the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member touching story and great music! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Holocaust movies are not easy viewing. However, they are usually uplifting dramas telling stories of incredible human courage and endurance, alongside horrific cruelty. I see everyone that I can, not because I need to know any more about the holocaust but because I feel we need to bear witness to this tragedy in our history. There are still stories to be told and we should honour those stories by listening, reading and watching. The children in this German language film are fabulous and the friend who attended the preview with me said that she had to keep repeating to herself that it wasnâ(TM)t real, so she didnâ(TM)t break down. It is also a fascinating story of friendship and courage. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful, brutal, melancholy movie. I understand the story is long gone in the wave of history. I just can't stop feeling angry and sad when the story end. The music has fit the movie perfectly, such as The Hungarian Dance in the scene of trip, Flight of the Bumble Bee in the last for kids playing to save their own lives. At the end, the Larissa's song to sooth the atmosphere, and my weeping heart for the story, for the fate that happened in those dark dark days. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a same sad Jewish story, I guess. These 3 kids' friendship was amazing And also their talent about music!!
