Critics Consensus

Rough around the edges but inspired at its core, Wyrmwood is a giddy variation on the zombie genre that will sate gore hounds' appetite for mayhem.

If you like your zombie movies ultra-violent, ironic and delivered in a power-shower of blood, then Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead will be right up your street. Go to Full Review

james o Oct 4 the film is a inspirations from Re-Animator, Night of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead, Mad Max and Bad Taste. See more Craig B @Boundsy 05/21/2024 Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead is a ridiculously entertaining Aussie zombie movie. Featuring some wonderfully realised larrikin characters you can root for, the gory, at times humorous, action comes thick and fast. The addition of the 'petrol problem' adds a clever element to an already challenging conundrum for the remaining humans. If you like your zombie movies with great characters and lashings of gory silliness, this one's for you. See more Cristian s 05/20/2024 Muy buena película de zombies australiana. See more Thom G 03/26/2024 "Wyrmwood" is packed with action, madness, and blood, but it's also playful, inventive, and unafraid to carve its own path, making it a thrilling and enjoyable zombie movie to watch! See more DJ F 03/21/2024 Zombie madness over the top craziness. Drops you in the middle of the world's end with a few new ideas about this worn out sub genre in horror that is more funny that scary. It would be great to get a prequel, explaining how it all began, then continue from the sequel. But this 2014 original holds up over time (3/21/24 when I wrote this), feeding a need for fast moving zombie mayhem. See more Jonty R 11/13/2023 WYRMWOOD is pretty much mad max meets the walking dead and by god is it badass! Made on a low budget over the course of 12 years, Wyrmwood takes traits such a zombie mind control, mad scientists, zombie roadkill and intense combat scenes and breaths a breath of fresh air into each of their sub genre corpses, giving them new life. The most unique part I feel is the use of zombie insides as fuel, giving new meaning to the title ‘Road Of The Dead'. The characters are all very likeable and acted brilliantly, the music is also very fitting to the films gritty apocalyptic feeling and the direction from the Roche brothers is exceptional. Definitely recommend to any fans of horror, zombies, dark comedies or Aussie action! See more Read all reviews
