Born from a short-film directed by star Teo Garcia back in 2006, ‘Xtremo' is what you get when you grew up obsessed with 80's/90's action flicks. Like something straight out of that era in almost every way (it could quite easily be a JCVD film), it's super cheesy, very simple, and absolutely loaded with machismo. However, as you might imagine, it's also jam-packed full of silly, but entertaining fights with lackeys being mowed down left and right, succumbing to the grizzled hero who's out for revenge. Depending on what mood you're in, that might just do it for you, if only out of a sense of nostalgia. I just feel like it's very dated. In this day and age, action films need to do better, be more inventive and stylish if they want to stand out. This certainly isn't that, but I haven't seen anything like this come out of Spain before, so respect for trying something different and perhaps blazing the way for future martial arts/action stars.
