Some technical aspects shine—cinematography with long takes and the chemistry between Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna—but they cannot fully counterbalance the fatigue of repeated eroticism. The film gestures at life’s transience, but its execution transforms existential ambition into something closer to a Latin-American 'American Pie'.
