Audience Member (Ext. Black Swamp) Urainia: (waist deep in marsh holding Apasmara in arms as she wades through reeds) Watch out for that croc, he's hungry! Apasmara: (clings to Urainia) Don't let him eat me! Urainia: Don't worry little love, he's a reptile of my imagination. He will only eat if I tell him to. Apasmara: Where are we going? Urainia: To visit the witch doctor. You had questions. The witch doctor loves questions. (places Apasmara on island filled with cat tails and climbs out of marsh) Can you walk, or are your feet too muddy? Apasmara: I can walk. Urainia: Go forward and you will see a hut. Apasmara: There is nothing here, Urainia. Urainia: You haven't moved your feet forward, do move them. Apasmara: (moves feet and hut appears) Is that the witch doctor's hut? Urainia: Yes. (hands match to Apasmara) Strike this match and count to three. Apasmara: (strikes match) 1-2-3-- Yama: (hut explodes and Yama appears) Ho Ho Ho! Visitors! Urainia: Hello Yama. Yama: Urainia! How is the eternal energy circling within you today? Urainia: Restless as usual. I brought you my little love Apasmara. He is not well. Yama: I see. He suffers from much little man syndrome. Urainia: You know how little men are. Yama: You are very patient to give little men your energy. Urainia: Enough with the flattery, my dear friend. Please help my little love. Yama: (towers over Apasmara) How may I help you? Apasmara: (coughs) Am I here to suffer? Yama: (laughs powerful laugh) You wanted to play the fool. Urainia: He loves to make me laugh. Apasmara: It is one of my great joys, yes. Yama: Then you know great joy comes at the cost of great sorrow. Apasmara: Why is this? Urainia: Passion, I'm afraid. Yama: It's not so simple, Urainia. You know this. The Gods and Goddesses work in the frames of their own stories. Even when you play death you cannot be sure of the finality of your suffering or if suffering ever even existed at all... Apasmara: You don't suffer here alone in your hut? Yama: I understand suffering as a human concept and I use it for studying humanity. I myself have no feelings. Apasmara: What's it like to have no feelings? Yama: I play death a whole lot. Apasmara: I see. (looks at Urainia) I'm starting to feel better. Yama: The less questions you ask me the better you'll feel. Urainia came up with this little spell called Blissful Ignorance... Urainia: It's hard to intellectually grasp your part as the fool when under such powerful spells, though, although they do take the edge off. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review wendy w I only watched Yamasong, because I'm a Nathan Fillion fan. I thought with all the well-known actors voicing the movie, there must be something that drew them to it. It's a slow-paced, confusing mess. The concept might have been terrific, but the puppetry is awkward and the story-telling is sub-par. I think the story had a deeper meaning, but the poor puppetry got in the way. As an animated feature, it might have been able to move faster and explain some of the back-story that was not included. It's too bad that they wasted so many talented actors to create this mess.
