Audience Member A young Muslim woman struggles to find a new life in the British Pakistani enclave of coal-belt Keighley, West Yorkshire, northern England. Set against the backdrop of an uncertain community caught up in the tensions of 9/11, Yasmin comes to realize traditional allegiance to family and faith can only continue through the recognition of her responsibility to herself. Any reconciliation of her past must come from within - and somehow accommodate her newly adopted circumstances. Archie Panjabi adds another sensitive performance to her growing resume. Loy Machedo loymachedo.com Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, I must be in a select minority of people who have seen "Yasmin", the film about a Islamic woman living in Scotland before and after the 9/11 attacks. It's portrayal of the hard life and racism encountered is second-to-none, but you can't help wondering: why, if this is the way Islamic people actually live, is a white person directing it? And, from that, stems certain Western ideas that creep into the narrative, and form elements that some may see as bordering on racism. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Cinematography has been excellent. Some more on South Asians living in UK could be shown to however justify reason of Yasmin's. However Archie has been too good. The film has been a good one to watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A thought-provoking and well acted film from Channel 4. Archie Punjabi is stunning in the title role and, although at times lacking subtlety, it suitably addresses topical issues within our society. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A gud movie showing post 9/11 muslim life in western world! The conflict of mind and identity crisis faced by muslims is pictured elegantly. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

David Walsh World Socialist Web Site The film is honest and smart, and often amusing. Its insistence on examining the lives and circumstances of real human beings ... is a blow against the reactionary stupidities of the authorities in the US and Britain.
