Cathy F Interesting, only complaint is the closed captioning went too fast sometimes. Dance segments were phenomenal! Julian Sands was just like my dance teacher, very believable. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member First, this is a true story and very heartfelt if a little exaggerated. Manish Chauhan is amazing, both as actor and dancer, but he's the only real deal from the true story. Amiruddin Shah is portrayed by a good actor who is also a good dancer but not the amazing extraordinary dancer that Shah is in real life, so it makes the movie a little awkward. The movie has a lot of heart, especially concerning the families' eventual acceptance of their sons' passion and talent. It also touches on the difficulties between majority Hindus and minority Muslims in modern India, as well as tensions between the haves and the have nots. The opening scene is gorgeous with a panoramic view of Mumbai and classical music morphing into hip hop. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Inspired by a true story - loved the story, the acting, and the dancing.... Lots of talent, and great to see Julian Sands again too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A lovely and inspiring film based on a real story. The dance is phenomenal. Sadly Julian Sands is a bit over the top playing the ballet master. But the two young men are fantastic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't remember watching a movie that starts out like a stupid see-how-Indians-can globally-copy-their-masters-abroad and then turns into a really strong film making all sorts of points, character buildup, and fine dancing. At first Julian Sands as an Israeli seemed farfetched, but then he confirms the 2-state solution, makes you believe he is who he plays. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review fer b typical tale about poor kids trying to get ahead in life following their passion, in this case, dancing. the fact is actually classic ballet in India plus the personable characters and general good tempo and execution make the movie quite enjoyable. also, it is refreshing they are trying to make it in the arts and not by becoming yet another online marketing or tech guru. Rohan Naahar Hindustan Times Yeh Ballet is far too simplistic to be a satisfying examination of modern India and its problems; it glides by on the strength of its warm tone. Aug 15, 2020 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV Captures the beauty of a dance form while demonstrating the power of solid, soulful storytelling. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 14, 2020 Full Review Akhil Arora Gadgets360 Yeh Ballet is so focused on expanding upon a story several years old, that it's blind to the better one that's unfolding in front of its eyes.
