New York in the early 1990s: The AIDS crisis hangs in the air and cops are targeting gay men in well-known cruising spots. This doesn't stop the introverted Rick (Guillermo Díaz) from capturing hot moments of strangers with his camera. But when he witnesses a murder, his voyeuristic adventure quickly turns into a feverish nightmare. The mysterious killer fixates on Rick, not only wanting to invade his deepest thoughts but also his bedroom. What if the only chance for redemption from childhood traumas and demons lies in the hands of a killer?

Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com The script works up quite a bit of suspense but struggles to sustain such anxiety in proximity to a clumsy voiceover reading of Rick’s inner monologue and an amateur supporting cast. Rated: 2/4 Jan 5, 2024 Full Review Mary Beth McAndrews Dread Central 'You Can't Stay Here' is queer guerilla filmmaking at its finest. Rated: 4/5 Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall Even if the low budget is apparent, the film is strikingly shot with cameras that glide along with the characters. And the plot works on some haunting levels, touching meaningfully on issues like loneliness and voyeurism.
