Audience Member it takes a more gritty and violent direction than the originals; a daring prequel with no mercy to offer Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member So-so. A typical Hong Kong movie in the 1990s packaged with idols rookies back then: Nicholas Tse, Shu Qi, Daniel Wu, Lillian Ho. Only the caption subtitle & director/writer's personal comments on June 4 look really awkward here. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Y&D all the way!! Its not as good coz it has different actors, but you do get the feel of how they later evolved into the 'Young & Dangerous' (^_^) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Being a huge fan of the Y&D series, against better judgement some might say, I'm completely amazed at the range and diversity in both quality and mood of each entry. This prequel is one of the best of the bunch, including the spin-offs, with it's tight script by Manfred Wong and hip young cast. With most of the original comic book feel gone, Young And Dangerous: The Prequel tells a much darker tale than it's predecessors, focusing on the hard knocks rather than the bling and glamour of triad life. And there's possibly even a hint at social analysis in there somewhere, an attempt that Lau sadly and effectively punctures by weird analogues with the Tiananmen Square massacre. While Daniel Wu is totally underused as the cuckolded Big Head, Nic Tse gets to display some real star quality and presents a surprisingly psychologically believable young Chan Ho-Nam. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It's as the title indicates the movie to be, Young and Dangerous. Four young men join Bee's gang after dropping out of school due to fights keep occuring around them because of bullies. Bee trains these guys to be good fighters and eventually they learn to kill... It's a bunch of ass kicking. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Even with a different, younger cast, the story still intrigues.
