Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) I laughed. I cried. I came out thinking that the world really could be a better place if we all start to accept each other for what we are and not what we think we should or have to be... it's really uplifting. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Sophie Butcher Empire Magazine A simple but effective study of a vital activist voice, this documentary is a powerful force for change. Rated: 4/5 Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) ... The film eventually gets so tangled up in Gordon’s proselytising passions that it trips over its own earnestness. Rated: 2/5 Feb 9, 2024 Full Review Samantha Puc The Mary Sue An excellent introduction to fat liberation... It not only explores Gordon’s work in-depth and examines how she came to be such an integral figure in the fat activist space, but it also breaks down why anti-fatness is harmful and dangerous Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Connor Lightbody Loud and Clear Reviews helps shed light on certain aspects of life as a fat person but it then becomes more of a hagiography than an inspection of anti-fat culture, which are the more compelling elements Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Jay Horton Willamette Week [Gordon] makes for an instantly rootable protagonist, and her tale—lifelong wallflower finds her own voice speaking out against an insidious mass bigotry—hits all the crowd-pleasing notes with a textured authenticity. BA M This movie is so beautifully filmed and thought-provoking. It shook up a lot of my preconceived notions and presented challenging ideas in a really funny, heartfelt, and visually lush way. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review H W Amazing documentary. Should be required watching for all in health "care" and for parents (or just everyone). Beautifully filmed too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Nicky B I was already a big Maintenance Phase fan, and this doc was an absolute gift. Loved getting to know more about Aubrey, and appreciated her vulnerability here. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/30/23 Full Review Liisa M The first time I've seen myself and my life reflected on screen. An important film for anyone living in a body to see. Our world has been so deeply hurt by fatphobia and this films starts to detangle some of the hows and whys through Aubrey's moving and funny personal story. After I saw it, I texted everyone I know that they must see it. One of the best and most important movies I've ever seen in my life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
