Lou Lumenick New York Post It's clear Coppola had storytelling talent to burn, and this whimsically sweet movie is certainly one of the best Manhattan time capsules from that era. Rated: 3/4 Oct 3, 2015 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Francis Coppola has drawn topflight performances from his talented cast. Dec 11, 2007 Full Review Tom Milne Time Out Coppola's style had healthy roots in the screwball comedies of the '30s, and the glorious performances litter the film with moments to treasure. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Penelope Houston The Spectator You're a Big Boy Now slides up and down the escalators of charm, wayward fancy, stabs at taking itself seriously, and exuberantly crisp and funny observation. Jul 9, 2018 Full Review TV Guide Significant as an early example of the developing talent of one of the most important (if not the most important) American directors of the 1970s. Rated: 3/4 Dec 11, 2007 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com What elevates Coppola's coming-of-age comedy above the routine is the great supporting cast, headed by Geraldine Page in an Oscar-nominated turn as the smothering mom, Julie Harris, Rip Torn and others. steve d Far too over the top for me. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightful 60s film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Can't tell if this is supposed to be a comedy, an arthouse film, or just something Coppola needed to get out of his system before he moved on to bigger and better things. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review s r Some witty ideas, but not a success. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member good cult fave & film debut of '70's superstar Karen Black also music by lovin spoonful and notice the film within the film Coppola's first 'demetia 13' Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Bernard is an awkward young man who embarrasses his parents, so they decide to have him live on his own, but his intentions are not so much to learn to be an adult as much as they involve his obsession with ending his tenure as a virgin. It is a strange counterculture flick from the late 60s, written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, his first film after leaving the Roger Corman camp. It is odd to think this strange little film came from the same man who made those fantastic films in the 1970s. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
