Stephen Holden New York Times "Youth" creates an acrid vision of a country under economic and military stress, as the middle class is disappearing and the proliferation of arms is putting assault weapons in the hands of teenagers. Aug 20, 2015 Full Review Aaron Hillis Village Voice Elegantly shot to emphasize the suffocating atmosphere of its believably frightening scenario, the film speaks clearly about generational expectations and the disintegration of the middle class, even when the brothers communicate without using words. Aug 18, 2015 Full Review Alan Jones Slant Magazine Tom Shoval, who eschews stylistic flourishes in order to focus on character, leaves the film's heavy lifting to the actors and his own screenplay. Rated: 3/4 Mar 16, 2014 Full Review Andy Crump Movie Mezzanine Shoval mounts tension by gazing at his story straight on and without blinking. Audience Member A wonderful indie thriller that introduces the world to a fresh new talent in Tom Shoval. Has one of those classic endings that makes you smile long after the credits have rolled. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member In a failed attempt to channel Ingmar Bergman and Fellini, Youth is one of the most obtuse films made in the last 20 years, Slow, boring, poorly written and designed primarily for a stoned audience. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Je ne me résous pas à lui mettre les 5â?? qu'il mérite ; la pudeur en quelque sorte. Quel superbe film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Tom Shoval hits a fine note with his debut feature. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
