Rex Reed Observer The terrific cast is well worth watching, but everything else about this wayward movie mistake leaves you feeling just awful. Rated: 2/4 Feb 8, 2017 Full Review Craig D. Lindsey Village Voice Oregon is more than a bittersweet look at a man deciding to end his life before he's too invalid to have a say in the matter: It's a study of how plain ol' stubbornness can keep a family forever brimming with dysfunction. Feb 3, 2017 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com Is this all well-acted? It certainly is, especially by Langella. But all things being equal, I'd prefer to see him in a revival of The Man Who Came To Dinner. Rated: 2/4 Feb 3, 2017 Full Review Sean K. Cureton Film Inquiry Youth in Oregon presents euthenasia as it might actually be faced in real life; a dramatic representation of how one might approach the issue as an active participant. Mar 12, 2017 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Powerfully acted by select cast members, but the production bites off more than it can chew when balancing a desire for emotional authenticity and the comfort of dramatic formula. Rated: C Feb 16, 2017 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue What could have been a worthwhile and well-acted examination of aging instead turns into a clumsy road-trip adventure. Audience Member I get it’s his own decision but I personally think this was a super a-hole move to put your family thru 2.9 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/13/20 Full Review Audience Member Ugh, what a depressing horrible movie. Prior to this I had only seen Frank Langella in a few movies (most notably "Dave", which I love), but he can't save this movie and neither can anyone in the cast. I don't like Billy Crudup to begin with and he kind of irritated me all through this movie. Despite the movie's premise, I expected it to be touching. Instead it's dark, unfunny and just... angry. Had it only been Brian and Raymond who went on the trip to Oregon and then bonded in the process, I would have liked this movie a lot more. The only good thing about this movie was the music but unfortunately good songs don't make up for this mess. I didn't care for Christina Applegate either, who plays the mother. Her kids are as screwed up as the rest of her family. I didn't see the point of her daughter lifting up her shirt and taking a picture of her chest, but surprise surprise, it comes back to haunt her later in the movie. Now I know why this has been in my Watchlist for so long but at least it's over now. Too bad I can't get those 100 minutes back. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Truthfully told. Great acting. It will make you laugh and cry. Even if you, (like me) are against the principle of physician assisted suicide, this film gives you a look behind what goes on in a family confronted by it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this move. The acting, especially Frank Langella, was superb. The story was a raw, truthful look at end of life decisions - how end of life affects the individual and their families. Really makes you think about things you might not want to think about. But well done. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie everyone should see. True scene after true scene of people in denial living the way Americans live. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The dramedy benefits and drives reliably from the relatable familial dynamics it stems on, as well an outlook on life's supposed instinctive finish tried to be expressed through a letdown, melodramatic atmosphere and pessimistic truth. The thorough progress of the plot brought out really good performances from the cast to show heart and emotions, along with some brief tonal family sitcom.
