Audience Member My first Kim Ki-Young film. Kim has the hysterical melodrama of Douglas Sirk, the visual style of Seijun Suzuki, and the mitten-fisted lack of subtlety of Sam Fuller. Much greater than the sum of its parts in that it builds to something sublime from much that is exploitative, ridiculous, or baffling. Has one of the great funk movie scores right up there with Shaft and Vampyros Lesbos. Excellent acting by the three leads, particularly Park Jeong-ja as the kind guard who still looks like she would rip off your fingernails. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
