Jeff Shannon Seattle Times There's something in these Ten Nights for the dreamer in all of us. Rated: 3/4 Sep 19, 2008 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times The filmmakers don't solve any riddles but rather pose them in richly varied ways: Ten Nights of Dreams is in the grand, exquisite tradition of the Japanese cinema of the supernatural. Rated: 4/5 Aug 22, 2008 Full Review Bill White Seattle Post-Intelligencer Followers of the new Japanese cinema will enjoy getting an early look at new styles by emerging talents, but these are essentially student films that are not likely to be embraced by the casual moviegoer. Rated: C+ Sep 18, 2008 Full Review Stan Hall Oregonian Looking for clear meaning and structured plots? Find another movie. If you're a fan of Asian-style cinematic wackiness, dig in. Rated: B Sep 5, 2008 Full Review Ernest Hardy L.A. Weekly A sometimes terrifying, sometimes wildly amusing and occasionally flat interpretation of Soseki's tales by a who's who of Japanese filmmakers. Aug 21, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Great idea! Some of these are 5-star segments, some disappear into the mass of ten variously opaque stories in a row. The first one - so beautiful. The last one - just perfect. Some in the middle stand out too, particularly one with a phone call and a car accident. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting but highly uneven in quality. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A film I truly did not understand and maybe it was the whole dream concept and so you weren't meant to comprehend everything. It's a movie filled with inspiring, imaginative, interesting and sometimes whacky ideas, some better than others. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Great! Tenth dream was perhaps a bit too much for my taste, but the film is excellent nevertheless. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Amano's work was brilliant, however the choice of using spoken English made it awkward and lost its panache. The rest of the "dreams" were a hit or miss in relation to my movie taste. Not going to recommend it for everybody. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member a few of these films were very, very interesting. all were well done, although Amano's bit was beautifully animated, it was spoken in English and it seemed out of place.
