william d The premise was much more interesting than the execution. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Modern black and white Japanese drama about a bus conductoress, who suspects her new bus-driver partner is actually the serial-bus-conductoress-murdering-ex-fiance of her best friend. Phew. Interesting story with a slow pace that includes an awful lot of his-and-her staring contests. <img src="http://www.nipponcinema.com/videos/images/labyrinth-of-dreams-trailer.jpg"> Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Un thriller/film noir (et blanc) japonais. Une approche très classique au cinéma, mais avec une ambiance toute particulière telle que Sogo Ishii sait les créer. 3,5. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This film feels like a dream. Its a emotional thriller, that really takes advantage of the atmosphere it is able to create. Clearly Ishii was inspired from Film Noir, in telling this story. The pacing is slow-moving, with Ishii choosing to have long stretches with no dialogue or sound. Its almost as if Ishii wants us to visually FEEL the movie. This in the end only helps build the tension, as the film progresses. I would argue thats Ishii's experiment does not completely succeed but its ambiance, underlying themes do stay with the viewer long after the film is over.
