Brent McKnight The Last Thing I See Rides the line between being a pure artifact of a bygone era-one that depicts a romanticized, unrealistic version of the time-and a modern, revisionist take that strives for a more accurate portrayal of historical reality. Rated: C Jul 9, 2020 Full Review Christopher Lloyd Sarasota Herald-Tribune A simple two-act story: Prelude to war, and the war. The former is concerned with a lot of British derring-do and priggish behavior. The latter consists of battle scenes with a lot of kinetic energy but not as much emotional punch as they should have. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 28, 2011 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A rousing visual spectacle that's a prequel of the Cy Endfield directed Zulu (1964). Rated: B+ Sep 16, 2010 Full Review Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) Seen today, it's not only a startling indictment of British imperialism, but it seems a remarkably forward-thinking work. Steve D About as lame as the original. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Marshall P It seems there will likely not be another movie that so well approximates the events (and stupidity) this 19th century battle and decision making. A pompous British general rather criminally overreaching . The indigenous population paying dearly to defend their needs and traditions. 😗 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/23 Full Review saul e I remember seeing this at the cinema when I was very young. The tension as the ammunition runs low is suffocating. The Zulus seem like an unstoppable tide. Unlike zulu it gives you more background why the British attack the Zulus so is a balanced movie though it still tells the story mostly from the British side. Epic battle scenes that are reasonably accurate Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/23 Full Review charles s This was a bore with none of craft that made the first interesting except maybe more traditional uniforms. All of the British characters were shallow and most were obnoxious and there was very little effort putting into connecting it to the original. Worst of all the action scenes were just a chaotic mess impossible to string together to follow the action with horrible stuntwork to boot. Save yourself the time and just read a historical description of the battle, this just caused me to lose all interest in the topic entirely. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Ahmed A The best depiction of the battle of Isandlwada around. Ideal for military enthusiasts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie doesn't so much hold up as well as it's Zulu counterpart. Worth a watch if you like history Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
