Caroline Siede Girl Culture (Substack) In taking a small-scale human approach and by focusing on women with desperately wanted pregnancies, it seems designed to speak to those on the right as much as the left. Let’s hope they’re listening. Rated: B+ Oct 27, 2024 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times It’s the defiantly unslick, urgent intertwining of teamwork and private grief that lifts “Zurawski v Texas” out of the usual sea of issue documentaries, Crow and Perrault toggling between the high-stakes courtroom drama and raw human tragedy. Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Jourdain Searles indieWire In many ways, “Zurawski v Texas” is a film about America itself and the governmental failings that have brought us to this moment. Sep 28, 2024 Full Review Carla Renata The Curvy Film Critic Sheds light that very few women (if any) will ever again have any autonomy and will continue to have men in extreme power make decisions about their bodies ultimately shaping their future.  Pro life or not, I think we can all ultimately agree upon that. Nov 17, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Although the candid documentary Zurawski v Texas is focused on three plaintiffs and their attorney in their battle for reproductive rights in Texas, the movie sounds the alarm about how restricting abortion is a crisis-level health care issue in the U.S. Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views Because the personal stories are so innately compelling, the documentary will be successful if a sadly growing number of American women who find themselves in a similar position want to learn about how other women handled the predicament. Lian Ashley S This documentary covered the court case of Zurawski v. Texas. This was a case about various women in Texas and their struggling journey and fight in a state that has banned abortions. This documentary has shown how important it is to keep fighting for a woman’s right to choose so that women can get the proper healthcare they need. I found it meaningful because it made me very emotional seeing how different economic backgrounds affect how someone receives the healthcare they need. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review Ana T As a young woman from Texas, I really enjoyed this film. The story presented it in a way that was informative and deeply impactful. When the woman said, “I’m embarrassed to be a Texan now,” it was very moving. It’s frustrating and devastating to witness what is happening in Texas today, and this film perfectly encapsulates those frustrations. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Grace P This is one of the best documentaries I have seen in a long time. I felt so deeply connected to each woman in this film, as just wanted to reach out and hold their hands as they told their gut-wrenching stories. The justice system failed them. America failed them. And yet, they do not give up their fight for reproductive freedom. Neither should we as the viewers. This film demonstrates how now, more than ever before, we much continue to advocate for women’s reproductive rights in this country. Such a beautiful film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Alexis H This film features many stories of women who were fighting for access to abortions, particularly in states who ruled against them. This documentary does an amazing job of showcasing the horrifying events that women had to go through because they couldn’t get abortions. It’s scary to realize that even though many more women were coming forward about their lives being put in danger, policy makers are still stubborn to changing the rules. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/24 Full Review Em W Maybe one of my favorite documentaries I've ever seen. The raw editing on this and incredible shots makes this story all the more real and heartbreaking. Well done to the director and to the DP. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/10/24 Full Review Laura C Probably the best documentary I've ever seen. The ordeal these women went through is heart wrenching, and the unfeeling, uncaring state of Texas is despicable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
