See more Michael Antony A 2d Mikey’s TV Review: Andor (2022-2025) It goes without saying that every $$$ Disney spent on this show is on the screen. It looks incredible. There is also some fabulous acting - especially from Andy Serkis (Season 1) and throughout from Diego Luna, Genevieve O'Reilly and Stellan Skarsgård - a few nice ‘Easter eggs’ and plenty of impressive practical and CG FX. But ultimately, the story is protractedly drawn-out… Did we really need 16+ hours about the ‘birth’ of the Rebel Alliance? I guess us die-hard fans shouldn’t bemoan the fact that after lacklustre series such as The Acolyte and Ahsoka we finally have some quality Star Wars. This show and its related big screen companion ‘Rogue One’ (2016) at the very least, maintain a tone similar to the Original movies. Albeit the more serious side. Truth be told, with bit more judiciousness in the edit and a touch more levity this would be perfect. It isn’t afraid to deal with (and show the effects of) some heavy issues - revolution, fascism, oppression, murder, genocide, rape… this Sci-Fi Fantasy isn’t aimed at ‘little kids’! Many of the characters are highly complex. They have burdens to carry, are morally ambiguous and often make questionable choices and personal sacrifices to further their causes and beliefs. Ocassionally its ambition is overwhelming, but producer, writer Tony Gilroy (Jason Bourne) manages to keep a steady hand on his creation. As a result, I’d not only recommend this to anyone with a passing interest in Star Wars, but also to those who enjoy solid adult drama. See more McKinney R. @Jmac1 Nov 13 This direct prequel of Rogue One sizzles without a lightsaber in the entire series. Its strengths include story, character development, acting, and continuity. While the first season had a pattern of needing to watch episodes in 3s (2 set up episodes and then a payoff), by the middle of season 2 it just it just takes it up a notch with every episode being amazing all the way to the end.
