Critics Consensus

Expansive in scope while hurtling towards the endgame at a rollicking pace, Arcane's second and final season is a supremely satisfying capper to an epic saga.

Nic Autostraddle In true Arcane form, the visuals literally paint a sad but gorgeous image of Jinx feeling unmoored without someone to follow. Nov 18, 2024 Full Review Valerie Anne Autostraddle They really hit the ground running, and at the end of the first episode, I knew this season wasn’t going to let up. Nov 18, 2024 Full Review Rendy Jones RogerEbert.com "Arcane" continues to be the most visually stunning and dense series on television today, demonstrating why animation remains the most daring medium for creatives to convey a potent narrative. One can only hope for more stories from this vast universe. Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Kathryn Porter Reactor Storytelling cannot be perfectly even all the time, but in [the] quest to make sure that Arcane concluded in a true ending, many of the characters we loved fell to the wayside, and the thematic importance they carried fell with them. Tom F Beautifully animated and taking big emotional swings, many successfully. Maybe it’s a generational thing, but my boomer brain struggled to keep all the characters and plot lines straight. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/25 Full Review Dean R I'm about to anger a lot of people when I say that Arcane season 1 was an amazing piece of work, Season 2 is not. Arcane season 2 takes what was set up in season 1 and then insults the viewer at almost every turn. Whilst there are shining moments each episode can be summed up as 3 mediocre music videos linked together by bits of story telling. This entire season reeks of style over substance but that's not to say it isn't that... stylish. As always the animation is well done and the artistic side of things is fantastic, but objectively it's a huge step down from season 1 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/25 Full Review Cristian s La segunda temporada de Arcane es rara. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/11/25 Full Review Shilo Y This is why Jinx is my favorite, and my only favorite character of the all series!😆 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/09/25 Full Review Carson M Never have I been more disappointed. Season one was truly a master class in writing. Season two is a master class in why you shouldn't fire the writers who made season one (A decision that will boggle my mind till the end of time). I was fooled on my first watch by the flashing lights, amazing animation, and emotional music, only to discover on a rewatch how poorly the foundation was constructed. The pacing is the first and obvious flaw I noticed even on my first watch. It's clear from interviews and context that the creators wanted multiple seasons. That, however, is no excuse to take three seasons worth of content and jam it so poorly into one, that it makes me think JJ Abrahams made this season. The characters are the really disappointing part. Every single one has abandoned their previous beliefs and morals to become someone entirely different. It is possible for these character to move into these new beliefs, but they do it in an episode, and ignore important events that need resolved. Speaking of characters, the screentime for some of them is atrocious. Heimerdinger gets so little time I almost forgot he was in the season, and right when we get some of him, the writers decide that enough is enough and vaporize him. Instead we dedicate tons of time to Isha, the most idiotic and unimportant emotional manipulation tool that is forgotten about immediately after she does her sacrifice that saves absolutely nobody and accomplishes nothing, except for sparing my eyes from more of her on my screen. But hey, they played sad music and did a montage, so you better cry for her. The amount of musical montages in this show is ridiculous as well. In season one we had a total 10, minus the intro. In season two we have a staggering 19, just shy of double. It's like the realized that people really liked the music parts of season one and were like, "lets just do way more of that!" But somehow, they managed to to make nearly every single one inferior to all of them in season one. just a complete and utter downgrade. I could go on and on, but I'll end with this. I have rewatched multiple times and have found deeper meanings and amazing little details every time. I have rewatched season two a few times and have found more and more wrong with it every single time. My recommendation, don't watch it. Pretend it was never made. pretend that season one is all there is. A heart wrenching tale of tragedy and the domino effect trauma and oppression can cause, leading to the creation of broken people who do terrible things. Ending with the desperate question of, "what could've been". 0/10 Don't watch it Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/25 Full Review ProfessionalCat A little rough on the edges, but a great continuation of the best video game show ever.
