What to Know

Critics Consensus

Expansive in scope while hurtling towards the endgame at a rollicking pace, Arcane's second and final season is a supremely satisfying capper to an epic saga.

In true Arcane form, the visuals literally paint a sad but gorgeous image of Jinx feeling unmoored without someone to follow. Go to Full Review

They really hit the ground running, and at the end of the first episode, I knew this season wasn’t going to let up. Go to Full Review

"Arcane" continues to be the most visually stunning and dense series on television today, demonstrating why animation remains the most daring medium for creatives to convey a potent narrative. One can only hope for more stories from this vast universe. Go to Full Review

Storytelling cannot be perfectly even all the time, but in [the] quest to make sure that Arcane concluded in a true ending, many of the characters we loved fell to the wayside, and the thematic importance they carried fell with them. Go to Full Review

Once again, Arcane proves its worth as a spectacle and one of the more impactful animated show of our time, even if it can't quite capture the magic of season one. Go to Full Review

reynaldo a 2d The last two acts feel rushed, especially the storylines involving Caitlyn, Vi, and Vander. Many of their actions feel unnatural. But otherwise, the series is incredible. I commend the writers for creating a strong female character like Ambessa who truly feels imposing. See more Ry N @RyGuy Nov 21 Tensions are high after the fall of Silco and the counsel, but Viktor creates a safe haven in Zaun. This season introduces several new characters like Ambessa, Singed, and Warwick plus gives more backstory on Vi and Jinx. See more Erik K Nov 19 Arcane season 2 is the pinnacle of Mediocrity. The story and plot get carried by the visuals. The story feels completely lost and self indulgent at times with little to respect for the audience. However it manages to win back the audeince with stunning visuals and is a pleasure for the eyes. If you like deep stories with good plots skip this, if you like gorgeous eye candy this is for you See more Mirko C Nov 16 I wish I could forget to have watched this season entirely and just pretend season 1 had no continuation, because the drop in quality in the writing department between the two is shocking, and what they did with the characters is atrocious. They took a perfect little story of clashing classes, with characters that felt real and interesting, and turned into the worst possible version of a low tier marvel movie. Characters don't act like themselves, multiple rushed and forced plots point get layered onto each other, and entire narrative arcs get reduced to cringe inducing music videos. The only saving graces of this season are the songs (listened on their own) and the visuals, but explosions and pretty colors can only get you so far. See more Fe K Nov 14 LoL Universe isn't deep enough to do 2 seasons of the same characters. To me it was obvious that Jinx/Vi Storyline was pretty much done for after season 1, but they tried to hold on to it as fan service. They should have entirely dropped it and instead focus on different characters, give more screen time to Jayce/Victor. I mean, have u ever read the story of Veigar in LoL Universe? He is a cute magical creature locked away for eons by the evil mage mordekaiser until he forgets its former memories, and doing evil is the only way of life he knows. He finally breaks away but doesn't know how to fit into the world anymore. great for a season one? the aftermath? he tries to conquer a village, the villagers don't take him serious, so they accept him as an evil overlord. complete bs. that's season two for you. I hope they fix things in s3, I think its completely settled in a different town with different people so I hope they don't use 50% screen time to tell more jinx/vi. See more Emma L Nov 14 Animation continues to be fantastic, however the writing faces a heavy downgrade from the high standards S1 set. The season is far too short for what they were attempting and I would say S2 should have been split into 2 seasons to allow the script more room to breathe. S2 moves at lightning pace with no time for in depth character development, resulting in the majority of the plot progression being displayed in music videos (e.g., the gassing of Zaun, Zaun fighting against enforcers, etc). My favourite characters of S1 were Vi & Jinx but S2 ruins them. Vi becomes Caitlyn's lapdog with seemingly no morals of her own, as she agrees to commit war crimes against her own city. This would be fine if the writers had Vi become introspective about this moral failing, but they don't as that would get in the way of their ship. While previously being a well written display of mental illness, Jinx has now become a knock off Harley Quinn who is plagued with MCU humour. Her mental illness is somehow cured by the presence of a child, who is a glorified plot device. Isha exists solely to die and send Jinx into a depressed state, which makes no sense to me as Jinx was already in this state at the beginning of the season. In S2E7, she is essentially just reset to how she already was in S2E1. This goes for all the characters. Their development either occurs off screen or makes no sense based on the trajectory of their characters in S1. See more Read all reviews
