Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.

Thrilling and a much better experience than Season 2! The characters were more understandable and nuanced, and for once none of the writing seemed insensible (unlike the male lead’s absolute rotten decision to marry the sister of his love in the last season -.-) The styling could’ve been better, but overall a really nice friends-to-lovers story. Nicola Coughlan was the star as always!

Sadly season 3 falls flat compared to seasons 1 and 2. Everything was rushed. The writers made some questionable writing choices this season. Sending Kate and Anthony away for multiple episodes took away from the magic of the show

If you read the books then this is a disappointment. The storyline has go so far off from the books that I am not sure how each character will get time to shine. For some reason Penelope is always breathing hard and upset. The Colin and Penelope storyline is way too quick and doesn’t make sense.

Polin finally headlines the silver screen, and it’s my favorite season so far. There is unparalleled chemistry, romance, angst, and drama as the leads transition quickly, awkwardly (true to form), and beautifully from friends to lovers. Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan shine as Colin and Penelope. Simultaneously, there is also unmatched and hyper-visible character development and acting on display. This season is both a romcom and a dramatic romance. The intimacy scenes are also so different, incomparable in their beauty, vulnerability, and realism. My only wish is that there was more Polin, one cannot be allergic or stay away. While I acknowledge this season is polarizing due to costumes, makeup, subplots, pacing, and editing, this is the season I choose to re-watch and love most. It is not a slow burn, it is episodic and epic.
