Bridgerton follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne. Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.

Critics Consensus

The hot goss in London remains juicy as ever in Bridgerton's third season, which benefits tremendously from Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton's endearing chemistry.

Overall, the second half of Season 3 is packed with juicy drama, and it remains addictively watchable. Go to Full Review

The second half of the season is packed with everything but the kitchen sink... But all of that fails to distract us from the fact that it’s missing the thing Bridgerton does best: the chase. Go to Full Review

The two powerhouse performers make this a friendship worth rooting for. Elsewhere, though, the drama is underwritten, and too much narrative space is given to flimsy plot lines that are hard to engage with. Go to Full Review

Season 3 of Bridgerton shows why the friends-to-lovers trope may be old and well-trodden, but is ultimately oh-so-watchable. Go to Full Review

Love stories did steal the show this season, they were just not the romances that Bridgerton made the main focus. Go to Full Review

That such an unabashedly silly series as Bridgerton has developed some true feminist credentials is a marvel. Especially when it does so alongside the totally absurd proposition that gossip-mongering is a noble cause. Go to Full Review

Alexandra @AlexandraClaire1992 5h Jessica Madsen's character development made this entire miserable season worth watching, so kudos to her and I am thrilled to hear she got a starring role in a new show, so I will definitely check it out. But what was the point of making Cressida Cowper a sympathetic character, growing up without a loving family or friends only to have zero support by the one woman pretending to be her friend at the end of the season? Are we just supposed to be happy that she got sent away at the end of the season? If this show shows zero future expansion on her character, I will forever see this season as a wasted opportunity with terrible writing. I know millions of people want her back for season 4 and I have to say, for once I feel that fan theories and fan fiction expanding on these idea that should have been expanded in the actual series are surprisingly better than the actual show itself. But that just goes to show what a great actress Jessica Madsen is; and this gal deserves better. See more Amanda F @mandsfelix Dec 22 Without a doubt, Colin and Penelope are the best couple in Bridgerton! Very well developed throughout the first two seasons, and the third season came to confirm the incredible chemistry between the actors. I can’t wait to see them again in season 4! See more Graziela B @ellashotfirst Dec 22 The best season so far. I started accompanying this universe because of Queen Charlotte but both s1 and s2 didn't hook me at all, I was about to drop the show when s3 came out and it was amazing. Penelope and Colin have the best chemistry, their friends to lovers romance felt honest and relatable. The progress of their relationship from the first season to this one was so entertaining to watch. I could watch another three more seasons of them and let's not even mention the sex scenes, absolutely fantastic and realistic. It felt as if I was trespassing on their moment. 1000/10 no notes. The love story between Penelope and Colin is beautiful. A "she fell first and he fell harder." My only complaint is that I want more of them! See more Chelsea L Dec 3 Loved the books. Stopped watching when the show started gender-swapping and rewriting characters for modern politics instead of adapting the actual stories. See more Read all reviews
