Critics Consensus

Benefitting from a characteristically sharp performance by Zachary Quinto, Brilliant Minds is a medical procedural with brains but also a surprising amount of heart.

Kelly Lawler USA Today The result is sluggish and boring. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Nina Metz Chicago Tribune The show has a real understanding of how episodes need to be paced, and they are filled with the right amount of character-building when it comes to each week’s patients. Rated: 3/4 Sep 25, 2024 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Thus far, the show’s sweet spot is when the story starts in the head, but quickly moves to the heart. It’s fundamentally a tearjerker... Sep 24, 2024 Full Review Katey Stoetzel But Why Tho? A Geek Community If you haven’t tuned into Brilliant Minds yet, do so. It might just heal a part of you. Rated: 9/10 Jan 7, 2025 Full Review Laura Nowak TV Fanatic Brilliant Minds has excelled at exploring living life on a patient’s terms when they need to adapt to new circumstances. Rated: 4.7/5 Nov 19, 2024 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof Perhaps the worst sin of this particular series is that its lack of charisma weighs down what, on the other hand, is intelligent, interesting, and at times notable. Nora K This is an incredible show that needs to be renewed! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Dorothy H Please come back with Season 2!!! I loved this show. I’ve always been fascinated by the real Dr. Oliver Sacks. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/25 Full Review Chelsy L I read through the reviews and I’m so utterly confused how people think this show is trying to be like or even is comparable to House. I did like House but don’t think they’re remotely the same other than maybe both being medical 🤷‍♀️ I really enjoyed this show and so did my husband when his first comment when I turned it on was…Really? Another Doctor Show?! However, when he saw how different it was his opinion quickly changed! It kept his attention which these days is pretty hard to do. I really liked this show and sincerely hope they do make a season 2! Please Renew!!! This is also my first review in hopes that I might be able to help them decide to make a season 2! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Craig F This is a unique spin on a medical drama. Zachary Quinto is great actor. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Maggie S A fantastic show! What makes it all the more amazing is that the story line is based on the life and works of an actual brilliant neurologist and author, Dr. Oliver Wolf Sacks (hence the name of the doctor on the show). For those of you that watched the movie "Awakenings", will know that the movie was also based on the work done by Dr. Sacks, and is fact based. The stories presented so far on Brilliant Minds are taken from the studies and work that Dr. Sacks did in his lifetime. Yes, there has been some liberties taken in the story line, but if you look into the life and biography of Dr. Sacks, you will see that the show does resemble his actual life and work. To me, this makes it all the more amazing. This is NOT a reboot of House, and it's unfortunate that people are relating the two. I hope that NBC renews the show; perhaps if they would put a "claimer" at the beginning of the show (much like the L&O that states the events are fiction) stating that the show is based on TRUE cases, it may change the minds of some of those who believe it's "made up drama". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Lumon I My new medical drama obsession! Love the Wolf and Carol friendship and how it’s focused on neurology and psychology. Inspired by real cases. Feel good TV. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
